We are now proud to offer capped microfluidic devices with channel aspect ratios as low as 1 : 100 (height : width). This step-change improvement enables the production of a wider range of designs. High surface area imaging zones, filters, and other low aspect ratio features can be added to devices without risking cap deformation or warp in all of our standard materials: acrylic (PMMA), polycarbonate (PC), and cyclic olefin polymer (COP). As always, our thermal capping process at Parallel Fluidics does not use any adhesives, solvents, or surface treatments.
For the most demanding applications, we developed COC-X1. This specially formulated cyclic olefin copolymer (COC) cap material is compatible with COP devices for a great combination of bond strength, optical properties, and chemical resistance. We can integrate COC-X1 into your prototype devices or provide it in sheet form when you are ready to scale up manufacturing.
