Pipette Interface Application Guide

Pipette tip insertion depths link to Pipette tip insertion depths section

The required insertion depth (Z) into the pipette interface depends on the pipette tip diameter (D), fixturing, and the stiffness of the robotic system.

Side cross-section of a pipette tip inserted into the pipette interface. The diameter of the very tip of the pipette tip is labeled D, and the distance from the top of the pipette interface to the lowest point of the pipette tip is labeled Z.
Side cross-section

Bar scale showing 3 mm as 19.566% of the figure's width.

Use the calculator below to determine approximate insertion depths (Z) based on the pipette tip diameter (D) or refer to the table of pipette tips from select manufacturers.

Insertion depth (Z) calculator

D × -1.73 + 5.43 = Z
